When William left with the military he never knew about his child William Rooke Weakley.

Researched by Mrs. Lucy Ripley, (in Yorkshire, England) to prove or disprove this family tradition. Lucy wrote to the Editor of the Household Brigade Magazine (Horse Guards, Whitehall) London, to find information on William Weakley. Emily Hales Duncan from Gravesend, Kent.
Kicked up her heels and away she went."

I am Geraldine Lyons and my mother is Beula
Naomi Sloan Lyons. My mother said that since

    Notes:

Birth: Copy of Pagham Parrish Record
Marriage: Copy of Pagham Parrish Record
    Occupation: Farmer

History: Francis Staker was born 23 Mar 1806 to Zaccheus and Mary Staker (nee Souter) at Pagham, a parish of Sussex, 6 miles S.E. of Chichester, England. Francis died 27 Feb 1871 in Spring Farm, Allens Creek, Kapunda, South Australia, Australia, and is buried in the old Methodist Church yard ? now Lutheran property ? at Allens Creek, near Kapunda, South Australia, Australia. The South Australia Register shows Harriet Paige Staker, wife of Francis, as having died on 31 Jul 1894 but the headstone on her grave at Caltowi, South Australia, Australia, and other sources show Harriet?s death 1 Aug 1894 age 85 years. Also the Death Certificate for Harriet Staker lists her Death Date as July 31, 1894. This Death Certificate in Australian Records Office had a ?Note of Correction? attached saying ?Harriet was the wife of Francis instead of James?.
Francis, age 31, Harriet, age 27, and a male child age 3 years, arrived at Port Adelaide, South Australia, Australia on the ?Katherine Stewart Forbes? on 17th October 1837 having sailed from Gravesend, Kent, England on 29th April 1837 under Captain Alfred Fell.
There was a Westleyan (or Primitive Methodist) Church at Allens Creek attached to the Kapunda Circuit. It was probably built in the 1860?s and was known as the ?Staker Church?. The land and chapel was transferred to the Lutheran Church in 1894 from the Staker family by agreement with a Mr. Sloan for the late Francis Staker. (Mr. Sloan is presumed to be Henry Sloan who married Eliza Maria Staker, daughter of Francis.)
After the new Lutheran Church was built in 1907 the old chapel was used as a Church School and hall until it was demolished in 1964.
Certificates held by a descendent show that Francis and Harriet were members of the Primitive Methodist Connexion in 1870 and 1873.

Inscription on Headstone of Francis Staker:
    SACRED TO THE MEMORY OF
    FRANCIS STAKER
Who died February 27th 1871 aged 66 years
?Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord
    Yea saith the Spirit
That they may rest from their labours.?

    Notes:

Grave and burial site of Mary Ann Shaw Duncan: "Family
Mystery" - from Pat (g g g grand daughter) of James
Duncan of Adelaide, and formerly of Rothesay, Isle of
Bute, Scotland, paid for the lease of Mary Ann Duncan's
grave. James came to Adelaide in 1859 as a 19 year old
and it is said that he had a relative living in the
    Adelaide area.
Pat said that another "Family Mystery" is that James
Duncan's aunt gave him enough money to start his own
business - - who is this aunt and how come she had
money to give him? James Duncan's coachbuilding/car
business eventually became one of the biggest in
    Adelaide.
Letter from cousin in Australia mentioned a connection
with family in Scotland maybe Stornway, Ross & Cromarty.
This may even be Mary's husband John Hales Duncan's
    family that is from Scotland.
