James came to Adelaide in 1859 as a 19 year old and it is said that he had a relative living in the Adelaide area. Pat said that another "Family Mystery" is that James Duncan's aunt gave him enough money to start his own business - - who is this aunt and how come she had money to give him? James Duncan's coachbuilding/car business eventually became one of the biggest in Adelaide.
