  • Notes
    • "Joseph owned the farm on which the town of Pleasant
      City is now located.
Sarah Campbell was of Scotch descent of the clan of
Campbells, of which the Duke of Argyle was the head.
Mr. (Joseph) Dyson was an educated man, able to draw
up legal papers, so he was a very useful man in the
community, an was called the "Squire". He is listed
as one of the parents paying tuition to Wharton's
School in Pleasant City in 1838. He died young leaving
ten children, the oldest of whom had just reached man's
estate. The widow was a woman of sterling principles
and good judgement, a hard worker and good manager,
and she managed to keep her family together and raised
the children to be an honor to the name."
